Hermès is as close to the pure definition of ‘luxury’ you get on any worldwide catwalk, even in Paris. Under the menswear guidance of Véronique Nichanian, Hermès has managed to take a brand initially known for its leather goods and, later on, luxe wardrobe basics and re-appropriated it for fashion. They do this by using the unquestionable quality of their clothes as their sartorial foundation, adding seasonal colours, prints and details – much like any other brand showing during the Spring Summer 2014 season. This time around that meant a suave mixture of turquoise tones and saddle prints, a clear nod towards Hermès’ logo. High-tech cropped sportswear jackets in a check pattern added attitude to the elegance on display.
